$205,000 Health System Partners Grant
Cornerstone is making plans to increase the hours of operation and number of patients served through its Free Medical Clinic. This expansion is made possible through a $205,000 grant from Baylor Health Care System, HCA North Texas Division, Methodist Health System, and Texas Health Resources. Mike Doyle, President/CEO of Cornerstone says, "This grant will allow us to find medical homes for many more people living in Tarrant County who are not covered by insurance. This is a real Blessing to the people we serve. We are ecstatic over the opportunity given us by the participating Health System Partners. Our entire community will benefit."

A Letter from Our CEO
From the August 2010 Newsletter Article
What a Blessing it is to serve the Lord with each of you. Thank you for your support that allows us to share with you stories like this: Jerry Cabluck, Director of our WelcomeBack Program, came in today and shared with me that at the Parole Office this morning a volunteer from a local church brought flowers for the ladies coming back to Tarrant County from prison. All the ladies were overwhelmed with the expression of Christ's Love coming from Christ's people. They were given lunch and an invitation to come to Cornerstone to get the help they need to re-enter the free world.
Or the lady I met in the computer lab while I was giving a tour to a new foundation. She had just graduated from the Cornerstone Christian Women's Job Corps (CCWJC). CCWJC is headed by Janet Powers and teaches women job-readiness skills. Each lady has a mentor to help them work their way back to independence. This lady was smiling from ear-to-ear as I shared with the foundation what CCWJC was all about. She spoke up and shared that she had just graduated and was starting a new job in two weeks and that she was wearing a dress that she got in The Store. She was ready to start a new life of Hope and success.
What an opportunity we have to see things like this every day. You should feel good about your part of these successes because without your faithfulness financially, through volunteering, and prayer we could not bring you these wonderful examples of our work together.
Along those lines, I want to encourage you to read about our upcoming Golf Tournament on October 4th. The format has changed to a scramble, yet we are still encouraging teams to raise money the way they did in the Marathon Format. There will be two prize pools. One for the team that raises the most money and one for the scramble team with the lowest scores. First Prize for the team that raises the most money is a suite for 20 at a 2011 Rangers Game. First Prize for the scramble is 4 round-trip tickets anywhere Southwest Airlines flies.
We are going to make this the best event of the year but we need 18 teams of 4 to commit to raising $2,500 minimum (no maximum) to support God's work here at Cornerstone. We are very excited to announce that we are moving closer to building our first three homes for low-income families. Our house plans have been completed and approved. We have signed a commitment letter with the City of Fort Worth and hope to begin building by October 1, 2010. Please continue to pray that God would prepare the way. "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it," Psalms 127:1.

Cornerstone partnered with Riverside Baptist Church, using space to have our annual Fine Arts Camp (funded by the Bernau Foundation), as well as Vacation Bible School for the children in the community.
Cornerstone food pantry is now receiving food from Tarrant Area Food Bank at the Noble location, allowing us to provide food for more families in the community. Please call Jesse or Kristen (see contact information below) to find out how you can volunteer at the Food Bank on behalf of Cornerstone.

WelcomeBack program appears to be for mid-year projections. We have seen 1363 men and women returning from prison, distributing more than 2400 items of clothing and helping over 439 additional family members. Many of those returning have their high school diploma or GED, but we are helping over 45 men and women with classes to prepare for the GED test. Have you ever seen a woman that was just released from prison cry upon receiving flowers at parole? Volunteer Ray Coleman has a unique ministry- he gives out flowers to the returning women. Something we men, including me, seldom think about. Humbling to say the least!!

...until CAN's 16th annual Golf Tournament!
Over the past fifteen years, this unique event has raised funds to help Cornerstone serve those in need with food, clothing, furniture, appliances, medical services, ESL, GED, adult education, and job skill/readiness training, providing a pathway back to independent living. Last year, golfers raised a total of $41,600 for our ministry!
There are several ways you can take part in blessing those in need through this year's tournament. We are still looking for sponsors as well as Team Leaders who will field a team of three other golfers. Not a golfer? Help the committee come up with and put together gift bags and door prizes.

Announcing 2010 3CP Back to School Blast-Off!
It's time once again for 3CP's annual Adopt-a-Student for Back to School event. At this year's "Back to School Blast Off!" we are hoping to provide supplies needed for a successful school year for 30 children from our housing program. Last year Adopt-a-Student sponsors, like you, donated almost $4,000 in new school supplies, backpacks, shoes and clothes for 43 children from 23 families. The children were so appreciative and proud of their new supplies and school clothes.
If you and/or your organization, small group, co-workers, neighbors, family, etc. would like to participate in this year's annual Adopt-a-Student for Back to School event, we are offering two options:
Option #1: Sponsor a student. Donate $100 per student and we will take care of the shopping for you. Monetary donations are due by August 6th.
Option #2: Adopt a student. We will provide the child's personal info (clothing sizes and school supply list) and you can do the shopping. Supplies are due in our office (3500 Noble Ave, Fort Worth, TX) by August 10th.
If you choose to adopt a student, we ask that you provide the following:
- A new backpack
- School supplies
- A pair of shoes
- First day of school outfit
On Saturday, August 15th, you and/or your organization are invited to attend 3CP's "Back to School Blast-Off!" at Cornerstone's new ministry center where students will receive their supplies.
Please contact Melissa Hatcher at (817) 632-6000 or mghatcher@canetwork.org to sign up. We have many children in our program this year. However, if you participated in our Adopt-a-Student event last year, or in our Adopt-a-Child-for-Christmas, and would like to adopt the same child, please let us know.
